The Home Builders Association of Southwest Missouri, located in Joplin, was founded in 1978 by a group of local builders who wanted to bring attention to and advocate for quality residential construction in their community.
We recognize that times have changed and the needs of our members have changed. To address these changes, The Foundation of the Home Builders Association of Southwest Missouri, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, was formed in the summer of 2018. The main objective of the Foundation is to recruit individuals to work in the residential construction industry. We will publicize benefits of working in the trades, start a program with local trade schools, and grow our current scholarship program to include more students entering trade program schooling.
Mission Statement: The goal of the Foundation is to encourage and promote education, jobs, and opportunities in the residential construction trades.
Goals/Objectives:
- promote the benefits of working within the building trades to students of all ages,
- create and sustain a long-term plan to place students into a job shadow, apprenticeship, and job placement program
- award scholarships to graduating high school seniors, showing preference to children of Association Members and students going into the residential construction industry
